Mykonos Town (Chora)

Mykonos Town — known locally as Chora — is the beating heart of the island's nightlife. Its whitewashed alleyways are packed with cocktail bars and clubs, and the sunset bars of Little Venice are the classic way to start the evening. This is also home to our own WE ❤ MYK Club, right in the centre of town, where we host our biggest weekly nights. The streets stay quiet until late — things only really get going after midnight, when the alleyways fill up and the clubs take over until sunrise.

Paradise Beach

Paradise Beach is the island's legendary party beach and the place most people picture when they think of summer in Mykonos: golden sand, turquoise water, watersports and music drifting across the bay from mid-afternoon. It sits about six kilometres from Mykonos Town and the beach buses from Fabrika square run there all day and late into the night, so it is an easy day out. Spend the afternoon on the sand, watch the sun go down over the water, then head back into Chora for the night.

Paraga, Super Paradise & Platis Gialos

The south coast is a string of beautiful bays, each with its own character. Super Paradise is a spectacular cove framed by rocky cliffs with famously clear water; around the headland, Paraga is small, stylish and one of the best places on the island to watch the sun drop into the Aegean. Platis Gialos, next door, is the calmest of the three — a broad family-friendly beach lined with tavernas that also works as the hub for the caiques hopping between the southern beaches. All three are connected to Mykonos Town by the beach buses.

Insider Tips

The night starts late

Mykonos runs on its own clock. Start with sunset drinks in Little Venice or on a beach, have dinner around 10pm and don't expect the clubs to fill up before 1am — our nights at WE ❤ MYK Club open around 23:45 and peak well after midnight. Arriving too early often means an empty dancefloor.

Taxis are scarce — plan your transport

There are only a few dozen taxis on the whole island, so never rely on flagging one down. Use the beach buses to Paradise, Super Paradise, Paraga and Platis Gialos, the seabus between Tourlos (the new port) and the old port, and the caiques that hop between the southern beaches. If you do take a taxi, carry cash — many don't accept cards.

Book tickets in advance

In July and August the big nights sell out days — sometimes weeks — ahead, and THE WHITE PARTY on Saturday is the first to go. Buy your tickets online before you travel rather than counting on the door. Check the events calendar to see exactly what is on during your dates.

Dress the part — white for The White Party

Mykonos dresses up more than most party islands: smart beachwear by day, stylish outfits at night. If The White Party falls during your stay, the dress code is strict — all white, head to toe. Pack at least one white outfit and you're covered.
