Mykonos 2027 for Groups: Organising a Trip That Actually Works

A group trip to Mykonos is one of the best weeks you can give yourself — and one of the easiest to get wrong. Ten people all deciding things at the last minute on an island where nothing is last-minute is a recipe for a stressful holiday. The good news is that almost all of it comes down to a handful of decisions made early. Here's how we'd organise a group for summer 2027.

Get the group size right

Somewhere between six and twelve people is the sweet spot for Mykonos. Below that you lose the group energy that makes these trips; above it, everything gets slower — one accommodation becomes two, one taxi becomes three, and getting everyone out of the door before midnight turns into a project. If you're a larger crew, split into smaller sub-groups with their own leader for logistics, and agree in advance on the two or three moments where the whole group is together. Nobody needs to do every single thing as a herd of twenty.

Book the nights before you book the flights

For a group, this is the single most important rule. Individual tickets can usually be found; ten together on a busy night in August, much less reliably. The same goes for a table — if you want somewhere to put your drinks and a base for the night, that's something to arrange well in advance, not at the door. Staggered arrivals: plan for them, don't fight them

In a group of ten, people will arrive on three different flights and at least one ferry. Accept it early and it stops being a problem. Pick one meeting point and one meeting time for the first evening — somewhere in Chora, easy to find, no reservation needed — and share it in the group chat before anyone leaves home. Whoever lands first picks up keys and does the supermarket run. Whoever lands last gets a message telling them exactly where everyone is. Nobody spends their first night on the island wandering around looking for the group.

Pick the theme night that fits your group

Keeping the budget from drifting

Group budgets don't blow up on the big items — those get agreed in advance. They blow up on the small ones nobody tracked: the third round, the taxi that had to be split four ways because two people had already gone home, the day everyone said yes to the expensive plan because nobody wanted to be the one to say no. Fix it with structure. Agree the shared costs before you fly and settle them in one pot. Set a rough daily rhythm — one bigger day, one simple day — so nobody feels ambushed. Buy your nights out in advance so those are already paid for. And appoint one person to hold the shared kitty, ideally someone who doesn't mind being unpopular for thirty seconds.
